An Introduction
The East Devon Choral Society has been based in Tiverton, Devon since 1974. The Society has been growing steadily in recent years under the baton of our talented and enthusiastic conductor, Andrew Daldorph, and now has a membership of approximately 90 singers.
The Society sings a broad repertoire. We cover many of the major Choral works, including Mozart's Requiem, Elgar's Dream of Gerontius, Handel's Messiah and most recently, Verdi's Requiem, to name but a few. However, we also seek to explore other musical influences, from Negro Spirituals to opera. The Society places an emphasis on musical development and has recently introduced regular voluntary workshops on such topics as voice technique, sight-reading and rhythm.
These also include an "Away Week-end" which provides an opportunity to make music together and cement friendships in a relaxed and fresh environment. We are a friendly society with a wide range of ages and abilities and welcome new members of all abilities, voices and ages. The only requirement is an enthusiasm to sing and make music to as high a standard as collectively possible for the enjoyment of ourselves and our audiences.
